In 2021 Climbing had its Olympics debut with the introduction of the Lead, Speed and Boulder sport climbing disciplines. 

At Hardrock Climbing we are invested in developing the future of Australia's climbing stars. 

Our over 11's coaching programs are covering all climbing abilities allowing participants to climb for fun, learn to train or train to train using the long term athlete development coaching model.

Our Performance and Elite youth members are coached at our Nunawading venue on some of Australia's best indoor lead climbing routes.

Development

All levels of previous experience are welcome to join.

Hardrock CBD offers an exciting 11+ climbing program, run by a team of experienced coaches who facilitate engaging and active climbing sessions.

Club members have fun challenging themselves physically and mentally to reach new heights. This welcoming and beginner friendly environment is the perfect place to develop climbing technique through climbing games and challenges.

Throughout the term, our coaches help members set and achieve their climbing goals. Reflecting on what members have achieved and want to achieve is an important focus for the program to help develop confidence as well as strength.

Advanced

By Invitation Only for those in our Development Groups

In our Advanced classes, members are introduced to more advanced climbing skills and concepts. This is an environment where members are committed to climbing and are looking to take their skills to the next level. 

Members will be exposed to lead climbing by learning skills specific to this type of climbing under the guidance of our experienced coaches. They will have the option to be assessed for an In-Class Lead Pass. While Lead climbing is encouraged in our Advanced group, it is an optional skill to learn. If our Advanced members would prefer to improve their skills by continuing on our Top-Rope system, they're more than welcome to.

Development

Our Nunawading Climbing Club offers a range of development opportunities starting with our Development Climbing Club. This group focuses on developing the skills of climbers and creating a fun social environment for participants aged 11 - 17 years old, run by a team of experienced coaches who facilitate engaging and active climbing sessions.

Club members have fun challenging themselves physically and mentally to reach new heights. This welcoming and beginner friendly environment is the perfect place to develop climbing technique through climbing games and challenges.

Throughout the term, our coaches help members set and achieve their climbing goals. Reflecting on what members have achieved and want to achieve is an important focus for the program to help develop confidence as well as strength.

Technical

By Invitation Only

As a part of our Technical group, our members will have a greater focus on all the technical aspects of climbing, paying particular attention to the finer details and skills that can guide our members towards the next steps of higher level climbing. All of our Technical members have their lead pass, and will continue to hone lead skills that were developed in our Advanced classes. 

Technical will provide a pathway to personalisation, where an athlete will reach the point that they require specific personalised coaching. There is a great focus on training in our Technical class, with members set problems and activities that will enhance both their skills and endurance.
