There's something different about doing an activity with your colleagues that isn't sitting around a conference table.
Climbing can put people a little outside their comfort zone. For some, getting off the ground and onto the wall is a genuine challenge. Others will take to it straight away. Either way, it's a chance to see a different side of the people you work with.
The usual workplace dynamics can change pretty quickly when you're all standing underneath a climbing wall.
There's plenty of encouraging, cheering, problem-solving and laughing, which makes climbing a great way to bring people together without forcing everyone into awkward team-building exercises.
You don't need to be a climber
How much climbing experience is required to come along and enjoy the experience at Hardrock? Absolutely zero!
Our sessions are suitable for first time beginners, so your group can turn up, get started and see how they go. More experienced climbers can challenge themselves on harder climbs, while first-timers can take their time getting comfortable.
And because everyone approaches the wall differently, there's usually a good mix of competition, encouragement and the occasional moment of internal stress when a climber looks down and realises how high they have climbed!
A Christmas party with a bit more going on
By the end of the year, we’ve all had enough of sitting around and talking about work. With the workplace being the common ground, conversation at most work functions inevitably leads back to the office.
A climbing session gives everyone something to focus on, and plenty of opportunities to have a laugh together. Nothing clears the head like climbing, and you will find that work is the last thing on your mind.
You may form unexpected bonds with people you never thought you would through a shared climbing experience.
And if you want to continue the celebrations afterwards, you can always head somewhere for food and drinks once you've finished climbing.
Being in the middle of the CBD, there are plenty of options within a short walking distance.
