Fresh Routes, Fresh Challenges: What’s New on the Walls

New Routes

If you’ve been in the gym lately, you’ve probably noticed something different. We’ve been busy resetting large sections of the gym, and we’re excited to announce a wave of brand-new climbing routes, complete with fresh holds that have been shipped across town from Nunawading.

There’s something special about fresh, clean holds. The texture is crisp, the colours pop, and every move feels like an invitation to explore. Whether you’re into technical slabs, powerful overhangs, or balancey vertical climbs, this latest set has a bit of everything. We have had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of setters, and they have really leaned into creativity this time around, and have been given free rein to put their own spin on things. Keep an eye out for some volumes that will be popping up soon to add some more spice to the setting mix!

Introducing Ungraded Routes

One of the most exciting additions in this reset is the introduction of ungraded routes. That’s right - no grade, no hints, just you and the climb.

The goal? To give you the chance to experience routes without preconceived expectations. Instead of looking at a grade and deciding whether something is “too hard” or “too easy” before you even give it a go, you can focus purely on movement, problem-solving, and how the climb feels to you.

It’s also a fun challenge: climb it, then guess the grade. Was it softer than you expected? Harder? Right on the money? You might surprise yourself. These routes are a great way to develop your internal sense of grading and push beyond your usual comfort zone. At the completion of the climb, find the clipboard at the base of the climb and provide your feedback as to what grade you think the climb is.

We’ve already seen climbers gathering around these mystery climbs, comparing notes, debating grades, and celebrating sends together. It’s exactly the kind of community energy we love to see in the gym.

Something for Everyone

Don’t worry - if you prefer to stick to graded climbs, we’ve got plenty of those too. The new set includes a wide range of difficulties, from beginner-friendly routes to serious projects that will test even the strongest climbers. These climbs go across the spectrum of top rope, lead, and auto-belay.

If you’re newer to climbing, this is a perfect time to explore and try different styles. If you’re more experienced, you’ll find plenty of challenges to dig into - and maybe a few climbs that humble you in the best way.

Come Try Them Out

Next time you’re in, take a walk around and check out what’s new. Try a route you wouldn’t normally go for. Jump on an ungraded climb and trust your instincts. And don’t forget to let us know what you think - your feedback helps shape future sets.

Fresh routes don’t stay fresh forever, so now’s the time to get on them!

Log your Sends on the App

Don't forget to log your climbs through the ClimbTime app. All the routes in one convenient place. Log sends, find partners, score points, give feedback, be inspired by the community.
